Breaking News!!! several People Arrested For the Death of Cameroonian Journalist Martinez Nzogo

Excerpt from Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh’s Communique regarding the investigation into the death of Martinez Zogo Click for the full communique


Several persons arrested for #MartinezZogo’s gruesome murder as first reported by Tata Mbunwe for Mimi Mefo Infos. Although the names of the suspects have not been officially revealed, the communique released today notes that further investigations will determine their level of involvement in Zogo’s murder


After mounted pressure from the Cameroonian population both home and abroad coupled with those from international bodies, the Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, in a release today said the following:


“Investigations carried so far have led to the arrest of several individuals highly suspected of being involved in this heinous crime. Others remain wanted”

This scenario starting with the journalist former managing director of Amplitude FM, allegedly kidnapped on January 17th and his mutilated body found on January 22nd in the city outskirts of Yaoundé the countries capital.


This coming after a lot of bad blood between the media and government officials regarding their treatment with several journalists either killed or forced to flee because of their jobs. The death of Martinez evoques memories of Samuel Wazizi, a TV host in the country’s English-speaking town of Buea, who was detained by the police and later reporter to have died in detention.


In the aforementioned communique, the president Paul Biya through Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh paid tribute to the late Martinez Zogo and lended his support to the journalism corp in Cameroon. It is left to see where this investigation will lead as communication Minister, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, affirmed government’s determination to bring the perpetrators to book.
