Gas prices in Cameroon through the roof - government says it isn’t as bad as it looks

This price hike unlike that of 2008 comes in the midst of inflation caused by several factors the world has lived through. However Cameroonians on the street are not having it, this as many explain is a flaw of the system as they "know" that they posses natural gas deposits and have a rifenery that should work for them.

The government on the other hand through state TV is damping down the anxiety the people are expressing comparing the fuel price rates in Cameroon with some of her counterpart Central African countries. This prices they say are not as high as the population make it out to be and that it won't affect any other sector in the country seeing as there has been an increase in mean salary and an almost net 5% increase in state salaries.

These explanation has fallen on deaf ears as many Cameroonians are beginning to face the consequences of the cost increase in different areas such as public transportation, food and health services that are linked with this cost increase; with many taking to social media to decry the situation and call for the government to do better, with one user going as far as saying "stop comparing yourself with other countries that don't have natural oil deposits lying about"

It is left to see how the government tackles this issue, but it is fair to say like 2008 price hike, the people are not happy with governments recent outing
