General Elections in Cameroon according to ELECAM heading into decisive phase

Elecam officials in an extraordinary session vetting candidates for general election

The Electoral Council held today its 2nd full session for the election of senators on March 12, 2023. The said meetings marked the start of the work of examining the candidacy files for the senatorial election

Having already published the list and closed registeration into voting till last month, the body in charge of running and overseeing elections in Cameroon says there is no road block to their achievement.

The aforementioned meeting was slated to examine and coordinate the files of the different candidates posturing for the elections to come. This election marks a pivotal moment in the country as Inflation and commodity price surges are irking the population.

However, timid turnout and alleged mass fraud in past elections have rendered the process marred by many citizens of the country; ELECAM says it has taken measures and concrete steps to fight these ills and make the election as transparent and smooth as possible for all involved. It is left to be seen how their improvements will affect the minds of the people going forward
