David Atangana reports for Mimi Mefo Infos that the farmer whose name was gotten as Taku was killed in a scuffle with the herders over a disputed piece of land.
This comes as another shock in the string of extracurricular killings in the same manner in the restive north west region.
According to a source, “The young man by name Taku was killed by the Mbororos because of a piece of land” Sources, however, did not provide documents as proof of Taku’s ownership over the piece of land — he has been farming on for decades.
Locals also say the herders have been threatening to wipe out everyone living in that quarter to claim ownership of the land which they badly want for grazing.
As mentioned earlier, this is not the first instance but authorities as well as security and defence forces have been passive in the face of such conflict. With one local saying “The military has been coming and going without taking any action”.
There has been no official reaction from administrative authorities following the incident.
