In our midst they now repose. As far as the eyes can see, our country is blessed. It is a heritage that we all share, be it cultural diversity, natural resources, Human Resources or the “joi de vivre” that we posses as a people. This prosperity has imbued us since time immemorial with a sense of pride and aspiration for better achievements. This sense of pride has driven us to the edge at times, but it is this same pride that has made us stand strong as a nation and a people under the sun.
Driven with this same purpose that we deny to undertake, we have the potential to become a nation that other nations admire; it is rather unfortunate that the standards we have set for ourselves through our leaders have been made redundant by the absence of checks and balances to accomplish them. We set ourselves little goals and haven’t reached any milestone that can conclusively be a pointer for us to aspire to reach greatness as a people.
The destiny of Cameroon is to be a beacon of hope for the continent, a trailblazer and pathfinder for other emerging nations on the continent. We therefore need to buckle up individually in our separate roles as nation builders and individually and collectively pursue this dream. Nation building as a concept is a culmination of individual efforts directed towards a common vision. We really don’t necessarily need to change the statuesque with regards to how we are being governed, but ask ourselves how our little everyday efforts (although primarily benefitting us), will help place the foundation on which a thriving country can be built. What is good for you, is good for your nation!!!
Therefore as the waves of the shores of this nation wash us everyday at the coast, so does the nation wait for the manifestation of its great people - building gently the holy shrine wherein our forefathers will repose in the knowledge that their sweat and blood that once watered these soil has borne fruits that will lead the world to come.
